Maintenance & Preventive Care Information


SeaVision underwater lights are the highest quality lights on the market and carry a 2 year warranty. They have been tested rigorously to provide you with an underwater light that should last for years to come. SeaVision underwater lights require very little maintenance, but they are not maintenance free. Any and all underwater lights are subject to failure if not cared for properly. Below you will find information on the maintenance and care of our underwater lights, abiding by this information will help prolong the life of your lights and endure years of quality illumination.

All models, (except LED’s)

All SeaVision underwater lights are easily maintained from the inside of the vessel, except LEDs Following this routine of caring for the lights should be done while inspecting and maintaining other items in your bilge or engine room. Every 3 – 6 months, the underwater lights need to be inspected inside and out. Visually inspect housing and inner light assembly by looking for any signs of leaking or unusual corrosion. The lights are designed to be used and using them regularly will help in preventing failures. It is recommended that your underwater lights should be turned on whenever using the boat, regardless of time of day. The lights can be on at any time and even while running the boat. Regularly keeping the lights on will extend the life of the lights, not shorten it. Regular use of the lights will discourage marine growth from growing on the exterior of the lens. It will also help prevent condensation from building up inside of the light. Remember that there is no such thing as a dry bilge and even with a securely tight end cap, condensation can build up inside. It should become common practice to turn on your underwater lights regularly, forming this habit of turning them on and letting them stay on long enough for them to heat up while on the boat will help keep your lights from failing. Remember that the more you use them the longer your underwater lights will last.

You’ll also notice that a light layer of Tef-Gel has been applied between the inner housing and the reflector assembly. This layer is important in preventing moisture from getting in between the two and allowing corrosion to develop and cause the reflector to become frozen inside. It is asked that anytime the lights are maintained that this layer of Tef-Gel be re-applied.
